Whitney Miller

Cookbook Author
"Masterchef" Season 1 winner

For as long as she can remember, Whitney Miller has been in the kitchen cooking.  Growing up in a very food, faith, and family-oriented environment, she was always in the kitchen cooking with her mom and two sisters or her great-grandmother, who is ninety-five today and still cooking.  Benefiting from her great-grandmother’s inspiration in Southern hospitality and cooking large Sunday dinners for extended family and friends, Whitney has aspired to be a great cook from an early age.

After graduating from Pearl River Community College, she enrolled in the University of Southern Mississippi.  In her senior year, at the age of twenty two, she auditioned and won Fox’s show “Masterchef” and gained the title of Fox’s 1st U. S. Masterchef.  Also, because of her talent on the show with desserts, Whitney was deemed the “Pastry Princess.” She has since obtained a degree, with an emphasis in nutrition, from The University of Southern Mississippi.

Whitney has spent time doing cooking demonstrations for events such as Anaheim’s Celebrity Food and Gift Show with TLC’s Little Chocolatiers, the 2011 Chicago Home and Housewares Show with other celebrity chefs such as Paula Deen, Curtis Stone, and Guy Fieri, and Women’s Health magazine’s “Are You Game” event in Chicago and New York City.

She also has acted as a celebrity judge for numerous contests such as B.I.O Special Events Wedding Cake Competition with Duff Goldman, Memphis Cupcake Camp Competition and MS High School ProStart Culinary competition, as well as the MS Hospitality pageant. Her professional career includes cooking demonstrations and videos for SousVide Supreme, conducting cooking classes at Viking Cooking Schools, and promotional work with OpenSky, an online shopping site.

In addition, she has given motivational speeches at schools and colleges such as Auburn University, civic and professional organizations, weight loss groups, and churches.  Whitney’s cookbook Modern Hospitality Simple Recipes with Southern Charm with foreword by Gordon Ramsay is published by Rodale. Whitney’s cooking style encompasses using fresh ingredients and putting her own modern twist on Southern classics. Her recipes have appeared in national publications such as People, Spirit of Women, Masterchef, and Cooking Light magazine. Her cookbook has been publicized in national publications such as Women’s Health and Dessert Professional magazine. She is also an author of magazine articles in publications such as Flavors magazine in Atlanta, GA and the national magazine, Taste of Home

She currently resides in Poplarville, MS with her family.
