The Ministry of Agriculture of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is the key public institution engaged with the task of promoting and implementing government policies and strategies on agriculture and rural development in line with the policies, strategies and instruments of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia with regard to the sector.

The Ministry promotes the agricultural sector which is the predominant sector of Ethiopian economy by way of supporting and providing services to enhance the increased production of agricultural output that would serve as a basis for the development of other sectors of the economy and the achievement of the level of production that enables to meet the market demand. The Ministry provides full support to all who are engaged in the production and marketing of Ethiopian agricultural products to realize sustainable development and improve productivity of the sector.
