It all started with an idea to create something revolutionary, filled with innovation and intrigue. In April 2012, Chirag Gupta and Ankur Gupta set out to become business partners. Their idea was visionary to bridge the gap between Indian market vis-a-vis Gourmet popcorn. They did extensive R&D about the product by travelling around the country and tasting every flavour of popcorn there was in India and henceforth, established the avant-garde brand which introduced India to Gourmet Popcorn! Brimming with hope and excitement about the potential of the idea, they hired a local bakery chef to transform their ideas into flavours. After experimenting with innovative and quirky popcorn flavours, they decided to take their idea to the next level. They decided to come up with unique and interesting flavours that were totally new to the Indian market, and as for naming the flavours, they chose to go with a combination of international and domestic appeal-like wasabi and sour cream!4700BC is the only Indian brand to have more than 50 assortments of popcorn. We serve the best and the most unique flavours such as Cranberry White Chocolate, Mocha Walnut, Himalayan Salt Caramel as well as Tiramisu Chocolate Popcorn. Our products include Microwave Popcorn, Instant Popcorn, Makka, and a very healthy snacking option- Protein pops. Our unique name comes from an interesting fact- It is believed that the oldest evidence of popcorn was found in the ancient caves of Peru, nearly 6700 years ago, in 4700BC! If you do great things, the world tends to take notice. DLF certainly did. Fast forward a few months, Chirag and Ankur were designing their very first store! Consequently, they opened franchises in Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Life works in mysterious ways and that definitely proved to be true in 2014. By a stroke of luck, Chirag happened to meet Ajay Bijli, owner of PVR in an elevator. And as they say, the rest was history. The brand received its first round of major investment in the year 2015 and has been growing exponentially since then. 4700BC has been ranked 1st on Amazon Marketplace in India. The brand has received numerous accolades from various industry experts and media editors and has been awarded as the “Most Innovative Product of the Year” by Restaurant India. The brand has been able to establish an international presence in 9 different countries. 4700BC popcorn continues to innovate, expand and pursue its growth domestically, online and on the ground with its brand outlets & its presence in the country. They finally got their big break with funding from PVR in 2015. The funds were put to use for building a popcorn ecosystem in India and developing the category. In the following years, they expanded 4700BC into Retail, E-commerce, airlines, railways, and introduced Pouches, Microwave popcorn, Makka, Protein Pops, Gifting options, etc. As the brand reached new heights, they decided to take it international. Dubai was the first country they exported to and subsequently to Nepal, Bangladesh, USA, etc. totalling over 9 countries.
