GOLDEN BERRIES AND CAPE GOOSEBERRIES
The Cape Gooseberry, also known as Physalis or Goldenberry, is native from South America. It grows at a high elevation of 2000-3000 m. As a member of the plant family Solanaceae, it is related to a large number of edible plants. The berry has a dark yellow pod which is covered by dry petals. This calyx acts as a natural protection to the berry.
