EB GROUP ACQUIRES 20 ACRES IN ECO BUSINESS PARK V FOR EXPANSION PLANS IN SELANGOR
EB Group, the manufacturer and distributor of frozen food held a groundbreaking ceremony at Eco Business Park V (EBP V) today to set up its first plant in Selangor. Guests of honour for the event were YDP of Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor, Rahilah Binti Rahmat and representative of CEO of MIDA, Mdm Manjit Kaur Balkar Singh, Director of Food Technology and Resource Based Industries Division, Group Managing Director of World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Dato' Sri Dr. Haji Irmohizam Ibrahim, whilst Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld) was represented by Ho Kwee Hong, Divisional General Manager. EB owns three subsidiaries: EB Frozen Food Sdn Bhd (mainly focuses on surimi, chicken, prawn and the newly launched Alaska Pollock series), Everbest Soya Bean Products Sdn Bhd (mainly focuses on soybean-based and vegetarian products), and Hoshay Food Sdn Bhd (mainly focuses on plant-based offering). Founded in the Northern region and well known for its extensive range of products, there are now 4 manufacturing plants with a total factory size of 39 acres located in Northern region. The Group now purchased 20 acres of land in EBP V in April 2022 as part of its expansion plans to set up its first plant in Selangor. With this initiative, the new plant in EBP V will include food production, warehouses, an R&D innovation centre, a 4-storey office, a 5-storey carpark and multi-storey hostels. Ang Chin Hooi, Chairman & Founder of EB Group shared that when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, it increased the tolerance of consumers towards frozen food, which also increased their willingness to make purchases. On the other hand, lacking manpower and global raw materials shortage has encouraged food chains to choose semi-cooked products. With our new plant in Selangor, we expect to increase the production capacity by a total of 120,000 tons per year. We believe consumers will have confidence in our brands and propel us to excel in the industry.” Ang added. Ang said the Group chose to expand its business in EBP V as the location was strategic and convenient to access. “It is between ports, city centres and markets from Northern, Central to Southern Malaysia, which also a cost-competitive advantage.” Ho Kwee Hong, EcoWorld’s Divisional General Manager said: “We look forward to welcoming EB Group to our growing business community here in EBP V and we are confident the new plant will enable EB to scale its business further and cement its status as a household brand locally and internationally.” As the largest industrial park in the Klang Valley and strategically located in the growth corridor of Ijok, EBP V has thrived since its launch in 2017. To date, two phases have been completed with occupancies of over 85% for East Gate and West Gate.
