Basmati rice is a Geographical Indication (GI) product of India and is cultivated only the North Western paert of the country encompassing the  provinces of Punjab , Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Western UP and Jammu Division of Jammu & Kashmir.  It carried typical aroma which entices the taste buds of the consumers who relish the fluffiness and nutrty taste. The grains elongate 2.5 to 3.5 times upon cooking and give a decent mouth feel. India produces around 7.5 million tonnes of Basmati rice and exports almost 60% of the same to more than 160 countries.
