Everything begins with a visit to Vietnam by Mr. and Mrs. Hanh, who has spent many years living in the United States and Europe and utilizing organic ingredients on a regular basis. Attracted by the traditions and hospitality of the people of the Mekong Delta, as well as the area's organic agricultural potential, they decided to do something with this beloved country. Viet-Suisse Organic Agriculture Ltd. was founded in 2017 with the goal of introducing sustainable agricultural methods to Mekong Delta farmers and bringing authentic organic products to Vietnamese consumers. However, how to successfully combine traditional and sustainable agriculture was a major problem for us at the time. We spent three to five years testing and transforming the traditional agriculture area into a sustainable one before receiving the Control Union certification. Then, we established a trial growing area of 30 ha in Tra Vinh province operational in 2020, producing ST25 and Japonica rice that meets USDA and EU standards. TOFOCO Dong Thap Company (English name: Reisduft) was founded in 2021 with the goal of expanding an organic certified farming area of 300 ha in the provinces of Kien Giang, An Giang, Tra Vinh, etc. We invested 2.5 million USD in the construction of a rice processing plant in early 2022. In phase one, this facility will produce dry pho (pho kho) and rice paper from rice. Then, in part 2, we will make vermicelli. This plant is located on a 7000 m2 plot of land in Tan Duc Industrial Zone, Long An Province. Reisduft used quality management systems, food hygiene and safety assurance systems such as BRC, and management systems in compliance with EU and USDA organic production regulations.
