Cezve Ibrik Coffee Championship 2018

It's back!

We are very excited that the 2018 Cezve/Ibrik Championship is back at Gulfood. The renowened coffee championship organized by World Coffee Events (WCE) is taking place at Gulfood Za'abeel Hall 4.

The Championship highlights one of the oldest styles of brewing coffee, the cezve/ibrik. The competition format celebrates this method’s rich cultural tradition, while encouraging competitors to bring their own style and flair to their performances.

The cezve/ibrik is a pot designed to make a concentrated beverage from finely ground coffee, by directly heating the vessel using a sand or gas heater. The body can be made of metal, brass, copper, or ceramic, but it features a distinctive long handle, and a brim that is designed to serve the coffee. Cezve/ibrik is a preparation style most commonly found in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Alongside the Cezve/Ibrik Championship, some of the world’s best coffee competitors from competitions like the World Coffee Roasting Championship and the World Brewers Cup will showcase their skills and coffee mastery through a series of interactive All-Stars features, including mystery drink challenges, interactive performances, meet-and-greets, and more!

Meet the competitors:

And the winner is...

Congratulations to Slava Babych, representing Ukraine, who has become the 2018 Cezve/Ibrik Champion!

The Ibrik stage continues to host incredible All Stars performances and shows over the final days of Gulfood - accompanied by delicious hot drinks at the Brew Bar, of course. Not to be missed!
