As live fire cooking can be seen injecting a deeper level of flavour into popular street food and fine dining dishes in 2019, meat & poultry will be all fired up as part of the brand new Barbecue Masters feature at Gulfood. Visitors joining this open air feast will get to to witness a host of celebrity Pitmasters demonstrating their honed methods, from meat selection through to preparation and cooking.

Barbecue combinations as a menu item dish have increased 16 percent from fourth quarter of 2015 to the fourth quarter of 2017

The Barbecue area will be open from 12 noon until 8 pm everyday (18 - 20 Feb), with food trucks.

The Blacksmith Smokehouse

Young is Manhattan born and raised and worked under Pitmaster Big Lou Elrose at Hill Country BBQ Market in New York City where he mastered the ways of the pit.In 2015 Young moved to London to take on the role of Group Executive Pitmaster for Big Easy Restaurants where he managed, trained, operated, and developed the menu of multiple locations throughout London. Now, in 2018, he is here in Dubai to celebrate a mashup of his favorite rubs, smoked meats, sides, trimmings, and desserts. In Young's word, he is thrilled to be here to “put some south in your mouth”.

Mighty Quinns

The owner of Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque in the East Village comes by his passion naturally. Although he grew up in Santa Monica, his Houston-born father always kept an assortment of Texas-style barbecue pits fired up in the backyard. Mangum acquired a pit of his own—a 16-foot Peoria custom cooker on a trailer. He hauled it to “Smorgasburg,” a foodie street fair in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, and went into business selling brisket. “I had $600 when I started. Within a few months, we were blowing through a brisket every three minutes.”

Chef Tarek Ibrahim

Master Chef

Award winning Chef Tarek Ibrahim was recently acclaimed as a Master Chef by the World Association Chefs’ Societies, and Tarek is also the current star chef of Orbit TV show Al Qaher Al Youm (Cairo Today).

He developed his passion and respect for food from a young age. Chef Tarek is currently working as Corporate Master Chef for Meat and Livestock Australia, providing training sessions to food service professionals on meat handling and cooking methods.
