Dr Awal Fuseini is a Senior Halal sector manager at the UK’s Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). His background is in meat science and animal welfare with an interest in innovative ways of improving product quality and animal welfare during Halal meat production. Awal works closely with farmers, meat processors and organisations in the meat industry to introduce projects aimed at adding value to the Halal sector.

He holds a PhD from Bristol University, where his PhD research led to the development of a novel method for slaughtering adult cattle. He has published several peer reviewed papers and books on Halal meat production.
