Biography

With keen interest in Plants, Forestry and Wildlife, Vikram Kesharee Pradhan joined State Forest Service in 2007 just after completing Master's in Botany and proceeded on to join Indian Forest Services (IFS) in the year 2010. He marked his journey into the service as recipient of awards and accolades as Best Officer Trainee and Gold Medal in training.

Having served in 6 districts of Rajasthan, he has the distinction of creating the first-ever Cactus House of the State at Barmer which houses 220 species of Cacti and Succulents. He is a strong proponent of Climate Change spearheading single-handedly National Afforestation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) Projects for the State. During his tenure as Deputy Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Plan, he worked on the Conservation programme of endangered species like the Great Indian Bustard, Lesser Florian, Panther, Tiger, Pangolin, Caracal, and Wolf in Rajasthan in coordination with the Government of India. He headed State Wetland Authority of Rajasthan and Directorate of Environment and Climate Change from 2021 before joining Government of India as Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

Engaging himself in the study of avian fauna of the desert ecosystem, he is a high-tech farming enthusiast who wants to work in rural India to create awareness among rural farmers to adopt low water consuming new technology and crop diversification for future food security and sustainability. He also holds a Master’s degree in Forestry and PG Diploma in Wildlife Management from the Wildlife Institute of India
