BROOKE
Sir James Brooke is an English trader, explorer and settler who became the first King in the Kingdom of Sarawak. Brooke and his successors introduce British colonial style law enforcements to the country in fighting against chronic piracy, pursued a policy of paternalism aimed at protecting the local peoples from exploitation and establishment of trade and commerce. Brooke’s legacies still relevant today with regards to promoting economic growth through people for ethical treatment to people and surrounding, public infrastructure development and forging strategic alliances to form into a dynamic market place.
