The Micallef family has a rich history of producing and selling local delicacies in Malta, dating back to the late 1930s when Mr Micallef sold preserved salted foods from a cart. In 1950, his son joined the business and began producing Helwa tat-Tork using a family recipe. The product, featuring the Camel logo, became a household name in Malta. Over time, the family expanded their range to include Mediterranean cuisine products such as dips, cheeses, and imported goods.
In 1995, growing demand prompted a move to larger premises. To manage their expanding portfolio, they established Camel Brand Marketing Co. Ltd to handle sales, marketing, and promotion of both locally produced and imported items.
By 2019, further expansion required relocation to a state-of-the-art facility. This facility houses advanced production machinery and a logistics center for dry and chilled products, solidifying the company's status as a leader in Malta's food processing industry.
