COOPERCUC – Canudos Family Farm Cooperative, Uauá and Curaçá is an organization of solidarity economy that works in strengthening family farming in the Baiano Semiarid Region. Formed mostly by women farmers, the cooperative transforms native fruits of Caatinga, such as umbu, passion fruit from Caatinga and mango, into high quality products, valuing traditional knowledge and local biodiversity. Based on the principles of cooperativism, agroecology and fair trade, COOPERCUC promotes income generation, productive inclusion and sustainable development, combining innovation, organic certification and social and environmental responsibility. Recognized nationally and internationally, the cooperative contributes to the permanence of families in the field and to the construction of a model of fair, supportive and sustainable development in the Brazilian Semiarid.
