Khayelitsha Cookies is a social enterprise based in Cape Town, South Africa, dedicated to creating meaningful employment for previously unemployed women from Khayelitsha and nearby informal settlements. In our food safety-certified factory in Parow, these women are trained to hand-bake and hand-pack our delicious cookies, brownies and rusks. Through sustainable job creation, we empower women to support up to five dependents, restoring dignity and breaking the cycle of poverty. For every 1,000 cookies sold each day, we retain one full-time job. Choosing hand-production over automation ensures maximum employment – what takes us 40 days to bake, a machine could do in one day.
