Long Chips are a specific type of potato snack that stands out because of their unusual shape and texture. Instead of the small, round or irregular pieces you see in typical potato chips, Long Chips are long, flat, and very thin potato crisps, often around 19 cm in length, giving them their name. They’re made from potato flakes that are flash-fried—usually for only about 10 seconds—in high-quality oil, which makes them crispy and less greasy than traditional chips. They’re usually packaged carefully (often in trays) so they don’t break and have no artificial additives in the original version. Long Chips originated in Latvia in the 1980s, where they were among the first potato chip-style snacks produced, and today they are sold in multiple countries in a variety of flavours. They’re enjoyed as a snack on their own, similar to regular potato chips but with a fun, elongated twist
