NONNA Mimma Galante

“Waxing Moon… full moon” Nonna Mimma was for all of
us the emblem of the popular rural traditions.
She was the bond of our family: every Sunday was a great
party for her grandchildren. She prepared fresh hand-made
pasta as the mother showed her. The freshly-baked bread, the
balsamic vinegar of her oak
barrels were our inseparable guests.
Nonna Mimma loved her homeland: sometimes she spent the
summer evenings in front of her house. She sat there for a
while in silence under the big lime in the yard and her gaze got
lost among the vineyard when - being a child - she used to play
hide-and-seek with her brothers during the harvest among the
baskets full of freshly harvested grape.
Over there our tradition relives every day. I still dream of
you over there. Just for a moment. Just to thank you, Nonna
Mimma.
