ATLANTIC BONITO
The Atlantic bonito has a slightly elongated body and long jaws. The body is covered by very small scales. It has no swim bladder. The maximum size is 80 cm.
It is a pelagic species, living close to the surface, preferably in coastal waters. It makes important migrations and forms shoals near the surface.It feeds mainly on fish such as sardines, squid and mullet. Breeding season is in summer in the Atlantic and spring in the Mediterranean.
Found in tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic.
