CHUB MACKEREL
Known as Estornino in Spanish, it is a species of the scombridae family. It is a species whose appearance is very similar to that of the mackerel (Scomber scombrus), but which has adistinguishing feature: small circular spots, darker in colour than its own skin, on the lower and dorsal area. In addition, the Chub Mackerel has a more sinuous outline than the mackerel in the stripes on its upper part. Its back is greenish blue and its belly has a silvery colour with yellowish tints.The Chub Mackerel is a fish that makes long migrations, reaching high speeds and forming large shoals, especially in coastal areas.It is usually found on the surface in the warmer months. It is a highly prized fish for its flavour and the consistency of its flesh.
