EUROPEAN SARDINE
Known as Sardina Europea in Spanish, it is a oily fish characterised by its slender brownish-green body and greenish and silvery reflections on the belly. It forms large shoals that approach the coast in late spring and summer. In winter they are found in deeper waters. They are usually caught from March to September, when the season begins. The European Sardine can grow up to 25 centimetres in length, living in shallow waters between 5 and 50 m.It is one of the best known, most abundant, tasty and demanded fish in Galicia.
