Le Stagioni d'Italia - Senatore Cappelli Pasta
The Senatore Cappelli variety was “invented” more than a century ago by the brilliant Italian agronomist Nazareno Strampelli. It takes its name from Raffaele Cappelli, a senator of the Italian Reign who granted Strampelli a plot of land near Foggia. Until the 1960s, it was the most widespread durum wheat variety in Italy, before being replaced by higher yield varieties. With a courageous action of recovery, Le Stagioni d’Italia gave a second life to this grain rediscovering a fundamental piece of our gastronomic identity.
Senatore Cappelli wheat can only be cultivated in Italy, under the exclusive licence of SIS (Società Italiana Sementi). Le Stagioni d’Italia oversees the entire production chain, from seed to packaging, and all stages of the process take place exclusively in Italy. It’s a real triumph of the Italian spirit.
