The outer skin is gray-yellow or light yellow-brown, rough in texture, with longitudinal wrinkles and distinct nodes. The cross-section is gray-yellow or gray-white, slightly powdery, showing a large number of longitudinal fibers, some of which are hairy. The texture is solid, and the fracture surface is fibrous. It has a distinctive aromatic odor and a pungent, spicy taste.
