Wolfberry (Lycium chinense Miller), also known as Ningxia wolfberry, Chinese wolfberry, etc., is a perennial woody plant of the genus Lycium in the Solanaceae family. Its branches are slender, arched or pendulous, with a light gray color; the leaves are ovate; flowers grow singly or in pairs in the leaf axils on long branches; the fruit is an ovate berry with a red color; the flowering period is June to July; and the fruiting period is August to October.
