PDO Halloumi Block
Halloumi is a traditional cheese originating from Cyprus. It’s a semi-hard to hard, unripened cheese typically made from a mixture of Cow milk, sheep’s and goat milk.
Halloumi is unique because it has a high melting point, which allows it to be fried or grilled without losing its shape.
This characteristic makes it a popular meat substitute and a favored ingredient in a variety of dishes.
It’s known for its distinctive, slightly salty flavor and a texture that’s often described as “squeaky” when chewed.
In the European Union, halloumi is protected as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), meaning only products made in Cyprus can be called "Halloumi”.
