TAREQ EL-HOUBY is a distinguished leader in the food industry, with over 40 years of expertise and an exceptional academic record. He holds a PhD in Functional Foods, Nutrition and Health, a Master’s in Dairy Microbiology, and a Bachelor’s in Dairy Technology from the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University.
With a proven track record in guiding prominent international, regional, and local organizations toward operational excellence and strategic growth, Dr. EL-HOUBY has served as a trusted food innovation consultant to leading multinational companies and held senior executive roles that have shaped industry standards.
His expertise spans food laboratories, quality control and assurance, food safety, product development, supply chain optimization, and advanced manufacturing processes.
He has successfully led major Egyptian, regional, and multinational companies in the food sector, delivering consistent results through innovation, and industry best practices.
Currently, Dr. EL-HOUBY serves as Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) – Egypt, and President of the African Food Safety Authorities Forum (AFRAF), led the development of Egypt’s first NFSA Strategy and aligned the regulatory system with international standards (Codex and EFSA).
He established rigorous, science-based control mechanisms and risk assessment systems for exports, imports, and the domestic market, safeguarding consumer health, enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian food exports, and strengthening African cooperation in food safety.
