Omar Khan holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology. He began his career at HSBC Bank Middle East in corporate banking, specialising in structured working capital finance.
In 2007, he joined Dubai Chambers, quickly rising from Business Networking Manager to Customer Services Director, leading the organisation to top rankings in the Dubai Government Excellence Programme for three consecutive years.
In 2012, Omar assumed responsibility for the Membership and Documentation Services Department, collaborating internationally on trade digitisation initiatives.
From 2014, Omar led Dubai Chambers’ global expansion, establishing a network of representative offices in emerging markets and overseeing the launch of the ‘Dubai Global’ programme in 2022, with the endorsement of the leadership of Dubai.
The programme aimed at opening 50 international offices globally to support the interests and aspirations of the of the Dubai private sector globally.
As Executive Director of Dubai Global, Omar also contributed to enhancing Dubai’s global connectivity and attracting foreign investment.
In March 2023, Dubai Chambers' leadership asked Omar to be the new Head of the Research and Data Department to use his accumulated expertise to drive in-depth business analysis of the private sector, to enhance sustainability and ESG initiatives, and to start a digital transformation through data science and AI to create a data-centric culture across Dubai Chambers, which he has very successfully ignited through his team.
