Fight Fake Matcha – The Matcha Stroke Test
NOT EVERY MATCHA IS THE SAME
The term Matcha is not officially protected. Thus, there is no definition of which characteristics a product should have, in order to be allowed to be named Matcha. Therefore, it is our special concern to inform about the quality differences in the Matcha category.
Low-quality, industrially ground teas with the designation “Matcha” are regularly entering the market. Officially, a product called “Matcha” does not even have to contain green tea! These kind of comingled products, of which the origin cannot be retraced, we call “Fake Matcha”.
With the help of the Matcha Stroke test, you can easily test the quality of your Matcha product by yourself. High quality Matcha can already be distinguished by its bright, emerald green color. A yellowish or brownish color, however, is an indicator that the product quality is not convincing. In the latter cases, the raw material the Matcha is made of is not pure, noble Tencha.
